DM Liz House Rules

The basics of my rules are either 2014 or 2024 rules—the game rule set will be chosen prior to session 1, and will be labeled in the Game Listing/module name as such. I.E. “Pieces of Eight-2024”.

🔄 Turn Order

Turn order is a top-down system, meaning your turn is numerically before, tied, or after the bad guys (yes I know you know these are the three options). However, if you are in the same “section” as a fellow team member, you may freely swap order with each other every round. Example:

Player A initiative 16

Player B initiative 14

Bad Guys initiative 12

Player B can always ask to go before A or vice versa. This is to encourage teamwork and strategizing your character’s skills.

☠️Death & Dying

When you go down, you drop to zero and commence death saves no matter how much extra damage you took. A Natural 1 counts as two fails, on a Natural 20 you wake up with one hit point and may take your full turn.

⚔️ Combat rules

I do allow flanking for advantage.

Taking your own potion or feeding your own potion to an opponent is a bonus action, but searching a dying companion and feeding them their own potion is an action.

🦉 Pets & Mounts

Pets/Mounts roll death saves just like a character.

While mounted, you occupy the whole of the mount’s space. (I.E. A character is within 5ft of you, even if you’re mounted on a large creature, as long as they are next to the mount.)

🤝 BE RESPECTFUL OF ONE ANOTHER!!!!

We’re all here to have fun, show some kindness and be mindful of your words and actions.

If at any time you feel uncomfortable with a real world or in game situation, please speak up so corrections can be made. If you do not feel comfortable saying something out loud, you may use the /w GM cue to send a private message in Roll20, or you may send a direct message via discord.

If bad behavior continues to be a problem, even after being spoken to about it, the DM reserves the right to kick a player from the game without a refund.
